A-J wrestling team wins dual event

The Anna-Jonesboro Community High School wrestling team won a dual event at West Frankfort Tuesday, Jan. 8.

The Wildcats defeated the host Redbirds 60-19 and Herrin 48-33.

The Wildcats competed at Marion against  three teams on Thursday, Jan. 10.

A-J lost to McCracken County, Ky., 55-17 and Jackson, Mo., 66-9, but  bounced back to defeat the host Marion Wildcats 47-36.

The Wildcats gave up 24 points to the first two teams and 18 points to Marion, all due to forfeits in weight classes.

A-J, which improved to 19-6 in dual action, competes again at the Murphysboro Meet on Tuesday, Jan. 22.
