Lingle wrestled in the 170-pound weight class.A-J senior Nick Sanders defeated Bryant Lester from Harrisburg. With Sanders’ win, the Wildcats increased their lead over the Bulldogs to 22-6.A-J took on Harrisburg in the first match of the night. A-J’s Nate Kisat started out the match against J.T. Stone from Harrisburg. Kisat would win by pinfall to tie up the score 6-6 after Harrisburg won the 145-pound weight class by forfeit.

The Anna-Jonesboro Community High School wrestling team defeated Harrisburg 64-18 and Pinckneyville 63-15 in a home match Tuesday, Dec. 4.

It was Senior Night for A-J and seven seniors were honored, including Clayton Ramage, Nate Kisat, Chris Johnson, Nick Sanders, Reid Morrison, Garrett Fabec and Catie Mays.

The A-J wrestling team took 6th place at the Clarksville, Tenn., Slamfest Tournament Saturday, Dec. 8.

The Wildcats lost to Clarksville, Tenn., 48-34, and came back to post wins over Nolensville, Tenn., 36-31, and Symrna, Tenn., 54-29.

In the consolation bracket, A-J defeated Hendersonville, Tenn., 51-2, then lost to Houston from Memphis, Tenn., 49-30.

The Wildcats were 3-2 at the tournament and faced Class 2A and 3A teams. A-J is a 1A  team.

A-J, 9-2 in team duals, is scheduled to compete in the 48th annual Mascoutah Invitational this Friday and Saturday.
