A-J softball team blanks Shawnee for first win
The Anna-Jonesboro Community High School softball team won its first game of the season with a 14-0 victory over visiting Shawnee Wednesday, March 20.
Morgan Wendling fired a no-hitter with a walk and 2 strikeouts to lead the Lady Wildcats.
Losing Lady Reds hurler Autumn McMahan scattered 11 hits to go with 7 walks and 2 strikeouts in the loss.
Payton Seip was 3-for-4 with a grand slam home run and 6 RBIs to lead the Lady Wildcats at the plate.
Petey Foster was 2-for-3 with a double. Julia Ellis was 1-for-2 with a grand slam home run and 4 RBIs.
Cori Turner and Abigil Dahmer were each 1-for-2. Wendling was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Tobie Treece had a double and an RBI.
Elverado 2, A-J 0: Treece was 2-for-3 for the only hits for the visiting Lady Wildcats Monday, March 18.
Wendling was the losing pitcher, scattering 6 hits to go with 3 walks and 5 strikeouts.
Herrin 9, A-J 2: Seip was 2-for-3 to lead the visiting Lady Wildcats in the loss Saturday, March 23.
Foster, Wendling and Treece were each 1-for-3. Katie Shepard was 1-for-4.
