A-J girls snap losing streak with win over Johnston City
The Anna-Jonesboro Community High School girls’ basketball team snapped a five-game losing streak with a 48-26 win over visiting Johnston City Monday, Dec. 20.
“We needed that one,” A-J head coach Matt Denny said.
Marlee Smith made three 3-pointers and Brodie Denny added another to lead the way in the first quarter as the Lady Wildcats built a 21-6 lead. A-J was up 31-16 at the half.
Addison Denny led the way for A-J with 17 points, 25 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal.
Smith scored 16 points, with five 3-pointers, to go with a rebound and an assist.
Jenna Sadler had 7 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 blocked shots. Brodie Denny added 5 points, 3 assists and 2 rebounds.
Macie George had 3 points, an assist, a blocked shot and a steal. Riley Cruse had 1 point, 2 rebounds and an assist.
A-J improved to 6-8 overall with the victory.
