A-J girls’ golf team sends three players to sectional

The Anna-Jonesboro Community High School girls’ golf team sent three individuals to the Class 1A sectional at Centralia earlier this week.

The A-J girls earned the right to advance at the Class 1A regional at Carterville Wednesday, Oct. 3. The top 10 individuals and top three teams advanced to the sectional.

Senior Emma Ray will be advancing to the sectional for the fourth time. She advanced as a member of the A-J team last season.

Ray led A-J with a score of 98. Sydnie Ralls advanced with 100 and Marlee Smith with 113.

A-J finished in 5th place overall with 425. Massac  County won with 325.

A-J 214, Chester 253, Murphysboro no team score: Ray led the Lady Wildcats to the win with a score of 48 in their final match of the season at the Union County Country Club course in Anna Monday, Oct. 1.

Smith was next for A-J with 53, Chloe Gamber 55, followed by Ralls 58, Kamyrn Glasco 60, Hannah Hileman 62 and Mary Jane Cavaness 68.

A-J closed out its regular season with a 7-5 overall record.
