Diamond Xplosion wins title

The Carmi-based 14U Diamond Xplosion ‘03 travel softball team won the recent Midwest Regional Tournament in dramatic fashion by defeating the S.I. Bandits 10-9 in the final inning.
Entering the final frame, Diamond Xplosion was down 9-5.
First baseman Alli Goering led off the inning with a single to left field.
Anna-based Avery Page followed with a single. Grayville’s Kinley Milligan singled to left center to load the bases.
Allie Shelton knocked in two runs with a double down the left field line.
Center fielder Emma Gwaltney continued the rally with a single to set the stage for the win.
Kami Johnson reached the right field fence with a bases-clearing double that gave the Diamond Xplosion team the walk off victory and the championship trophy.
