Cobden softball wins regional
Addy Aspen was 2-for-3 with a double and 2 RBIs to lead Cobden to an 11-1 win over Century for the Class 1A regional championship at Shawnee High School in Wolf Lake Saturday, May 21.
Keileigh Britt was 1-for-2 with a double and 2 RBIs. Josi Braden was 1-for-2 with a stolen base and an RBI. Carley Washer was 1-for-3 with 2 RBIs. Sara Millis was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Meredith Flamm was 1-for-3. Brooke Bailey had 2 stolen bases.
Flamm was the winning pitcher with a two-hitter to go with no walks and 3 strikeouts.
Cobden 16, Egyptian 6: Alaina Hartline was 2-for-4 with a home run and 4 RBIs to lead Cobden to the first round regional win Wednesday, May 18.
Megan Rhodes was 2-for-4 with a double and 3 RBIs. Braden was 1-for-3. Millis was 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Flamm was 1-for-4 with a stolen base and an RBI.
Inna Kinsey was 1-for-4. Bailey was 1-for-5 with a stolen base and an RBI. Britt was 1-for-5 with 3 RBIs. Anna Renzaglia had a stolen base and an RBI.
Flamm was the winning pitcher with a three-hitter to go with 5 walks and 5 strikeouts.
Cobden, 14-11, hosts the Class 1A sectional this week. Trico was to have played Pope County on Tuesday and the host Appleknockers were to have played Steeleville Wednesday. The championship is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday.
