Cobden baseball team goes 2-1 in recent action

The Cobden High School baseball team posted a 2-1 record in last week’s action.

Cobden 4, Steeleville 2: Zane Nance was 2-for-3 with an RBI to lead the host Appleknockers to the win Wednesday, March 27.

Alex Remsey was 1-for-1 with a double and an RBI. Noah Franklin was 1-for-2 with 2 RBIs. Bayden Ditterline and Chandler West were each 1-for-3. Ryan Barr had an RBI.

Nance and Franklin pitched in the win. Nance pitched 6 innings and allowed 7 hits to go with no walks and 8 strikeouts. Franklin pitched an inning and didn’t allow a hit to go with a walk and 2 strikeouts.

Egyptian 6, Cobden 3: Landon Britt was 3-for-3 with a double to lead visiting Cobden in the loss Tuesday, March 26.

Nance was 2-for-3. Franklin and West were each 1-for-3.

West was the losing pitcher, scattering 8 hits to go with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts.

Cobden 17, A-J 10:  Despite committing eight errors, the visiting Appleknockers held on for the win Monday, March 25.

Franklin led the Appleknockers’ 20-hit attack by going 3-for-4 with a double and 2 RBIs.

West was 3-for-5 with a triple and an RBI. Nance was 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI. Ditterline was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Bryce Reynolds and Braden Clark were each 2-for-4 with an RBI apiece. Barr was 2-for-4 with a double. Remsey was 1-for-1. Britt was 1-for-4 with 2 RBIs. West was 1-for-4 with an RBI.

Remsey, Barr, Franklin and Britt pitched in the win.

Remsey pitched 2 innings and allowed 4 hits to go with a walk and 2 strikeouts. Barr pitched an inning and allowed 4 hits to go with a walk and 3 strikeouts.

 Franklin pitched 2 innings and allowed a hit to go with no walks and 5 strikeouts. Britt pitched an inning and didn’t allow a hit or walk, but had a strikeout. 

Cobden, 5-2, plays again Monday at home against Meridian.
