Cobden baseball opens fall season going 1-2
The Cobden High School baseball team went 1-2 to open its fall season.
Woodlawn 11, Cobden 1: The visiting Appleknockers were held to three hits in the loss Wednesday, Sept. 4.
Josh Burgess was 2-for-2 to lead Cobden. Amon Ingold was 1-for-2 and Noah Franklin was 1-for-3.
Alex Remsey, Franklin and Ryan Barr pitched in the loss. Remsey pitched 4 innings and allowed 7 hits to go with a walk and 5 strikeouts.
Franklin allowed a pair of hits with no strikeouts and 3 walks without completing an inning.
Barr pitched an inning and allowed 4 hits, no walks and no strikeouts.
Cobden played in the Showcase Tournament Saturday, Aug. 31, at Egyptian High School in Tamms.
Century 6, Cobden 2: Landon Britt was 3-for-3 with an RBI for the Appleknockers’ only hits.
Franklin and Barr pitched in the loss. Franklin pitched 2 innings and allowed a pair of hits to go with 4 walks and 3 strikeouts.
Barr pitched 4 innings and allowed 2 hits to go with 3 walks and 5 strikeouts.
Cobden 15, Meridian 0: Britt was 2-for-2 with 2 RBIs to lead the hitting in the second game win.
Barr and Franklin were both 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs apiece. Burgess was 1-for-1 with an RBI. Brock Reynolds was 1-for-1. Remsey was 1-for-2 with 2 RBIs.
Remsey and Franklin combined on a one-hitter in the win. Remsey pitched 3 innings and allowed a hit to go with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts.
Franklin pitched 2/3 of an inning and didn’t allow a hit to go with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts.
Cobden is scheduled to play Friday, Sept. 13, at Shawnee.
