Cobden baseball improves to 10-3 with two victories
The Cobden High School baseball team won twice in last week’s action.
Cobden 7, Century 0: Braden Clark was 3-for-3 with an RBI to lead the host Appleknockers to the South Egyptian Conference win Tuesday, April 23.
Landon Britt was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Josh Burgess and Bayden Ditterline were each 1-for-4 with an RBI each. Chandler West was 1-for-3. Cody Wieseman was 1-for-4 with an RBI. Zane Nance added an RBI.
Nance and West pitched in the win. Nance pitched 5 innings and allowed 4 hits to go with no walks and 5 strikeouts. West pitched 2 innings and allowed 2 hits to go with no walks and 4 strikeouts.
Cobden 10, Trico 8: Clark was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI to lead visiting Cobden to the win Monday, April 22.
Nance was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Ditterline was 2-for-5 with 2 RBIs. Burgess was 2-for-5. Britt was 1-for-2 with a home run and 2 RBIs. Brock Reynolds was 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI. Wieseman was 1-for-4 with an RBI.
Burgess, Alex Remsey, Noah Franklin and Nance pitched in the win. Burgess pitched 3 1/3 innings and allowed 3 hits to go with 4 walks and a strikeout. Remsey pitched 1 2/3 innings and allowed 4 hits to go with a walk and no strikeouts. Franklin pitched an inning and allowed 2 hits to go with a walk and 2 strikeouts. Nance, who earned the save, pitched an inning and didn’t allow a hit or walk to go with a strikeout.
Cobden, 10-3, is scheduled to play again Tuesday May 7 at home against Pope County.
