Appleknockers reach 20 wins for season
The Cobden High School boys’ basketball team went 2-1 in recent action.
With the wins, Cobden’s record improved to 20-9. The last Cobden squad to reach the 20-win mark was in 1976, when the Appleknockers posted 22 victories.
Thompsonville 45, Cobden 41: The visiting Appleknockers let a first half lead slip away in the loss Saturday, Feb. 9.
Joe Brumleve had 16 points to lead Cobden. Noah Franklin added 12 points, Zane Nance 8, Dylan Lewey 3 and Landon Britt 1.
Cobden 49, Egyptian 42: Franklin led the way with 25 points for the visiting Appleknockers in the South Egyptian Conference win Friday, Feb. 8.
Britt added 10 points, followed by Nance 7, Lewey 5 and Brumleve 2.
Cobden 57, Christian Agape (Marion) 29: The visiting Appleknockers pulled ahead early on the way to the win Tuesday, Feb. 5.
Franklin had 19 points to lead the Appleknockers. Lewey added 10 points, Brumleve 8, Nance and Britt 6 apiece, Chandler West 5 and Cody Weiseman 3.
Cobden is scheduled to play in the Illinois High School Association Class 1A Hardin County regional Feb. 18-22.
