This photo has absolutely nothing to do with frozen brain waves. I just liked the image of a quiet Union County Fair in Anna and the hill off in the distance. The photograph was taken early Saturday morning from the grounds of the nearby Union County Country Club.

In the heat of summer, brain freezes...

Please read this. . .

Over the weekend, my brain waves froze. Seems like I came down with a bad case of the rockin’ pneumonia. Or some other ailment that might give a person the boogie, woogie blues.

Before we get to that: a follow-up. A couple of weeks ago, I made note of the frustration of dealing with an online bureaucracy. We ended having actual human contact with the bureaucracy. All turned out well. As a matter of fact, the experience was quite pleasant. Moving on...

Sometime early Sunday morning, like when it was still dark, I felt a twinge, or some such thing, in my throat. Maybe you’ve experience the same thing. Didn’t give it much thought. For a little while, anyway.

It didn’t take long for the twinge to develop into a full-fledged sore throat, which was not a very pleasant way to to spend the remainder of the night.

Sunday became pretty much of a wash. That was because my brain waves seemed to have frozen. To be honest with you, just moving from Point A to Point B was a bit of a struggle.

I did try to figure out where I might have acquired whatever ailment deemed it necessary to become a part of my life.

The Other Half had dealt with some summer sinus stuff last week. She insisted that it was the result of paint fumes and other things related to painting our front porch.

In my case, I figured there have been a couple of options which might have been related trying to be in about a thousand places over the course of Friday and Saturday. Maybe I had contracted...

...Too Much Time in the Summer Heat and Humidity Syndrome. Seemed possible. Went for a walk in the summer heat and humidity last Saturday afternoon. Didn’t give it much thought at the time.

...Photo Opportunity Flu. This also seemed possible. Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve taken about 400 photographs as part of my duties at The Paragraph Factory. August is a busy time of year, so all the pics were really no surprise.

...Fair Flu. Probably not. I did spend a lot of time at the Union County Fair, though.

...Cat Scratch Fever. Another possibility. Bob, our busy cat, has sharp, pointy parts, although not as many as he used to have.

I did manage to make it through attempting to cook dinner on Sunday evening without trying to pick up a dish out of a 350-degree oven with my bare hands. But it did take some extra brain power to make sure I did not repeat that dumb move.

Can’t be sure what got me, but it sure slows a person down. Add that to the summer heat and humidity, and it kind of puts a damper on the start of the week.

Things did seem to be getting better Monday morning. We’ll keep our fingers crossed. Got lots to do.
