<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 16pt;">Ocal Mowery 96, of Ullin died at 7:28AM, Saturday, January 21, 2012 at his home.</span></strong></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 16pt;"> </span></strong></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 16pt;">He was born on September 21, 1915 in rural Ullin the son of Ernest Paul and Mary Agnes (Guild) Mowery.<span style=""> </span> He married Elizabeth Miller on November 12, 1936.<span style=""> </span> She preceded him in death on February 7, 2010.</span></strong></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 16pt;"> </span></strong></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 16pt;">He was a farmer, then worked construction and later worked for IDOT in sign maintenance.<span style=""> </span> He was the oldest registered voting Democrat in Alexander County. Ocal was a life long active member of Beech Grove Methodist Church and later of the Cross Road United Methodist Church as well as Caledonia Lodge 47 AF&AM.</span></strong></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 16pt;"> </span></strong></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 16pt;">He is survived by his children, Judy Johnson of Centerville, Ohio and Larry (Karen) Mowery of Mishawaka, Indiana; grandchildren, David (Amy) Mowery of Fenton, Michigan, Beth (Jim) Adams of Fenton, Michigan, Greg (Sue) Johnson of Canton, Michigan, Rick Johnson of Eaton, Ohio and Nancy Koontz of Mishawaka, Indiana; 10 great grandchildren; brother, Delano (Betty) Mowery of Anna; 2 nieces, Traci Mowery and Mary Kay Land, many other nieces, nephews and loved ones; 2 devoted caregivers, Cathy Klasner and Janet Dabbs.</span></strong></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 16pt;"> </span></strong></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 16pt;"><span style=""> </span>Besides his wife he preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Lola (Don) Miller,<span style=""> </span> a son-in-law, Kay Johnson and a daughter-in-law, Margaret Mowery.</span></strong></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 16pt;"> </span></strong></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 16pt;">Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2012<span style=""> </span> from 5:00-7:00PM at Crain Funeral Home in Ullin and on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 from 10:00-11:00AM at Cross Road United Methodist Church.</span></strong></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 16pt;"> </span></strong></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 16pt;">Services will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at 11:00AM at Cross Road United Methodist Church with Rev. Cecil Atchison officiating.<span style=""> </span> Interment will follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.</span></strong></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 16pt;"> </span></strong></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 16pt;">Memorial contributions may be made to Cross Road United Methodist Church or TIP Hospice and will be accepted at the funeral home.</span></strong></p>
