William ‘Willie’ Robert Havlen

William “Willie” Robert Havlen, 59, of Caseyville, and formerly of Dongola, died at Barnes Jewish Hospital on March 22, 2018, in St. Louis.

He was born on March 14, 1959, in East St. Louis, the son of William D. Havlen and Edna Havlen.

He is survived by his mother, Edna Havlen of Dongola; four sisters, Kathy (Scott) Brady of Gadsden, Ala., Donna (Barry) Roslin of The Villages, Fla., Valerie (Tom) Hill of Anna and Meagan Wagner of Edwardsville; two children William A. (Dora) Havlen of Cleveland, Ga., and Amie Havlen of Dongola; seven grandchildren Harmony, William P., Devin, Kurtis, Robert, Kaitlyn and Lauren; one great-grandchild William Theodore; one aunt and four uncles; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; and two ex-wives Evelyn Havlen of Cleveland, Ga., and Susan Havlen of Caseyville.

He was preceded in death by his father William Havlen.

He was an accomplished auto mechanic and often could be found helping family, friends or anyone in need with their vehicle. He was known for his quick wit and humorous personality, which allowed him to be the highlight wherever he went. He was very close to his family and friends. He was extremely close to many of his cousins and friends that he and his sisters grew up with who he considered “brothers and sisters.”

Family and friends are invited on Sunday, April 22, to a celebration of life from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Collinsville Senior Center, 420 E. Main St., Collinsville. Then the family will continue with the celebration of life at 3 p.m. at Jessie’s Hideout. Everyone is welcome to come and share stories with his family.
