William A. ‘Billy’ Rutland

William A. “Billy” Rutland, 55, of Mound City, died at 2:01 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2024, surrounded by family and friends.

He was born on Dec. 18, 1968, the son of Sandra Prim and William D. Rutland. 

He was a U.S. Marine veteran, having served for four years. He was employed by Illinois Department of Transportation and was an APA Pool League Player.

He was saved and baptized on March 17, 2024.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Sandra Prim; a brother, Bobby; and a sister, Carol Ann Rutland.

He is survived by his wife, Marcy; daughter Josie Rutland; father William D. Rutland; step-father, Darrell Prim; step-daughters Madison Calvin and Allyson Adams; step-son Donnie “Trae” Calvin III; three granddaughters, Jayci, Kadence and Sayler; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Sammy and Linda Johnson. He leaves behind his cherished Yorkie, “Izzy.”

Funeral services for William A. “Billy” Rutland were at noon Tuesday, Oct. 15, at Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge. The Rev. Buddy Walls officiated. 

Burial was at the National Cemetery in Mound City with military honors.

Dinner was served following the service at First Baptist Church in Mound City.
