Wayne Lee Butler

Wayne Lee Butler, 83, of Dongola, died Monday, July 26, 2021, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, with his family at his bedside.

He was born on Sept. 28, 1937, in Ullin, the son of Elmer and Ethel Engleman Butler. 

He married Mary Jo Christian Hight on Jan. 31, 1975, in Vienna.

Mr. Butler is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary Jo Butler of Dongola; his daughters, Regina (Daniel) Osman of Anna and Glenna (Kerry) Miller of Dongola; his grandchildren, Joshua (Kelly) Osman of Fort Mill, S.C., Liza Osman of Anna, Simon (Erin) Miller of Olive Branch, Erin Miller of Dongola and Sarah (Eric) Stanley of Anna; great-grandchildren Kiley, Megan, Tyler, Jackson, Noah, Evanne, Tillie, Holden, Kaden, Aubrey and Benjamin; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Jesse, Gene and Ed Butler; and two sisters, Marietta Yakstis and Elsie Butler.

Mr. Butler was a retired farmer and a talented mechanic. He loved to collect and restore cars. For many years, he and Mary Jo rode their Harley Davidson, enjoying numerous road trips. 

He was a member of Maple Grove Baptist Church in Perks. He was a wonderful friend and neighbor to all who knew him, a loving husband, father and papa who will be missed more than words can convey.

Funeral services for Wayne Lee Butler were at noon Friday, July 30, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna, with Pastor Pete Vinson officiating. Interment followed in the Dongola American Legion Cemetery in Dongola.
