Vivian Sue Byrd
Vivian Sue Byrd, 70, of Cape Girardeau, died at 1:38 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born on April 30, 1949, in Cape Girardeau, the daughter of Clifford and Elsie Leota Brown Jacobs.
She married Edwin “Ed” Byrd on Nov. 14, 1981. He preceded her in death on Jan. 18, 2006.
Mrs. Byrd retired from Shoe Carnival and also worked at Finney’s Drug Store. She was a lifetime member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary No. 3838 in Cape Girardeau and a member of Good Shepherd Church.
She is survived by her mother, Leota Butcher of Cape Girardeau; brothers Jerry (Joann) Jacobs of Tamms and Tony (Charlene) Jacobs of Waterloo; a stepbrother, John M. “Butch” (Carolyn) Butcher of Tamms; a stepsister, Teresa (Kenny) Stiff of Olive Branch; nephews Troy (Christina) Jacobs of Jackson and Michael (Danielle) Jacobs of St. Louis; a cousin, Curtis Jacobs of Thebes; and a special friend, Larry DeClue of Cape Girardeau.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her fathers, Clifford Jacobs and John M. Butcher Sr.; grandmother Cassie Wright; nephew Jason Jacobs; and a stepbrother, Jack Butcher.
Funeral services for Vivian Byrd were at noon Monday, Jan. 13, at Crain Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau. Bobby Kirby officiated. Interment was in Old Thebes Cemetery.
