Virginia D. ‘Gin’ Davis

Virginia D. “Gin” Davis, 81, of Anna, died at 6:45 p.m. Friday, March 23, 2018, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born on July 28, 1936, in Jonesboro, the daughter of Winstead Leon and Edith Graham Davie.

She married Russell F. Davis on June 20, 1964, at Salem Lutheran Church in Jonesboro.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Russell F. Davis of Anna; a son, Patrick Davis of Anna; a grandchild, Kember Lynn Davis; an uncle, Joe (Charlene) Davie of Normal; an aunt, Jean Davie of Jonesboro; two sisters-in-law, Onida Davis of Anna and Adalee Davie of Wolf Lake; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by a brother, Robert Davie.

She was a lifelong member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Jonesboro. She retired from the A-J National Bank in Jonesboro after working there for 40 years. Over the years, she worked as a bank teller, bookkeeper and vice president. She enjoyed reading, knitting and playing cards. She loved traveling with Russell to new places.

Funeral services for Virginia D. Davis were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, at Salem Lutheran Church in Jonesboro, with Pastor Mark Hasty officiating. Interment was in the Anna City Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to Salem Lutheran Church or to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital.
