Vicki L. Lesar Bolen

Vicki L. Lesar Bolen

Vicki L. Lesar Bolen, 68, of Shattuc, died on Feb. 28, 2020, at Saint Louis University Hospital in St. Louis  following a short illness.

She was born at the Cairo Hospital on Aug. 17, 1951, the daughter of Leland “Did” and Irma “Vick” Lesar.

She married Gary D. Bolen on July 29, 1977. He survives.

In addition to her husband Gary, she is survived by her brother, Jerry (the late Karen) Smithey of Jefferson City, Tenn.; daughter Leigh Ann Kleiboeker and her special friend Jenn Lively of Nashville; daughter Amy (Chris) Conrad of Highland; stepdaughter Laurie Bolen of Fairfield; stepson Gary (Judith) Bolen of Englewood, Fla.; granddaughter Olivia Conrad; grandson Aiden Conrad; granddaughter Hailey Bolen; and granddaughter Paige Bolen.

She graduated from Egyptian High School in Tamms in 1969. She had several careers during her lifetime, but enjoyed her time serving the elderly at Centralia Manor and Carlyle Healthcare before serving the public as a 911 dispatcher for the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department, where she retired in 2011.

She enjoyed motorcycle trips with her husband Gary, going boating with her grandkids and spoiling her dogs. Water and water sports were always a source of enjoyment, and summer weekends were often spent in the pool and visiting with friends on the porch in between dips in the water.

She was an avid reader and embraced the technology of Facebook to keep up with distant friends and family, and in recent years forwarding Russian propaganda to annoy and embarrass her daughters.

She was always quick with a joke and embraced all who visited. Her sassy but welcoming personality will be missed.

Friends and family can call between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., followed by a celebration of remembrance at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 7, at Shattuc United Methodist Church in Shattuc.

Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.crainsonline.com.

Arrangements are being handled by Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro.

Memorials can be made to the Clinton County Humane Society, by mail to 1301 Apple Ln., Breese, Ill. 62230 or online at www.ccilhs.org/how-to-help/.
