Valerie E. Young

Valerie E. Young, 94, of Anna, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2019. 

She was born on July 27, 1924, in Zion, the daughter of Cecil W. and Christine Louise Rundell Crane. 

She married Forrest Dale Young on Oct. 26, 1945, in Neoga. He preceded her in death on March 4, 2001.

She is survived by her children, Brian Dale (Nancy) Young of Effingham, Patrice Lynne Young of Toccoa, Ga., Ronald Brent Young of Carterville, Debrah Anne (Wayne) Lingle, Alicia Laure Young and Pamela Louise Young-Laspina, all of Anna; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Cecilia “CeCe” Crawford of the Chicago area; other relatives and many friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Forrest Dale Young; a grandson, Eric Lingle; and a sister, Gertrude “Trudy” Miller. 

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Anna. She worked 28 years at the Choate Mental Health and Developmental Center in Anna as a technician until her retirement. She loved spending time with her family and keeping up to date on her grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, today, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna, with Pastor Ed Falgout officiating. Interment will be in the Anna Cemetery. 

Friends can call after 11 a.m. and until the service hour at 1 p.m. Thursday, today, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. 

Memorials can be made to the Union County animal control program.
