Tyler Glidewell

Tyler John Glidewell, 24, of Grand Tower died on Sunday, Oct. 2, 2016, at home.

He was born on Dec. 21, 1991, the son of Timothy and Dawn Hughes Glidewell. He graduated from Shawnee High School in 2010. He worked as second mate for Artco on the Mississippi River for several years. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan. He loved to hang out with his friends and was known for his great ability to play pranks on everyone.

He is survived by his mother, Dawn (Jimmy Baltzell) Glidewell of Grand Tower; father, Timothy (Leslie) Glidewell of Anna; brother, Trevor Glidewell of Anna; stepbrother, Tyler (Danyell) Spurlock of Jonesboro; stepsister, Jessica (Will) Watson of Anna; maternal grandfather, Willis Hughes of Grand Tower; paternal grandmother, Melba Glidewell of Murphysboro; uncles and aunts, Ronnie (Donna) Glidewell of Cape Girardeau, Charlie (Lori) Glidewell of Carbondale, Gary (Christie) Glidewell of Goreville, Susie (Bill) Kilquist of Carbondale, Rhonda (Charlie) Robertson of Murphysboro, Christy Meade of Chester, Janie (Gary) Gierger of St. Charles, Mo., Rick (Pam) Glidewell of Wentzville, Mo., Kathy Glidewell of Herrin, John (Angie) Hand of Jonesboro and Shannon (Tonia) Hughes of Grand Tower; a niece, Ragan Spurlock; and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Donna Hughes; paternal grandfather, Charles Glidewell; and uncle, John Glidewell.

Services for Tyler were at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, at Shawnee High School in Wolf Lake, with Bob Henson officiating. Burial was in Goodbread Cemetery in Gorham.

Memorials can be made to Goodbread Cemetery and will be accepted at the school.
