He was born on Oct. 15, 1950, in Murphysboro, the son of Benjamin and Johanna Mifflin Dunn.

He married Elaine Johnston-Thornburg on June 15, 1991.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother, Joe Dunn.

Mr. Dunn was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Cobden. He was an educator for 32 years. Teaching was one of his many passions. He loved his annual trip to Chicago with his sixth-grade class.

He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed collecting baseball cards. Another passion was running and bicycling. He had a large collection of t-shirts from the many races he competed in.

He was also a rail fan and developed a love for trains. As a rail fan, he met many friends. They followed many steam engines as they were moved during their restoration. Rail fanning along with family gatherings and other events allowed him to pursue another passion, photography.
