Stephen R. Stringer

Stephen R. Stringer, 70, of Ullin, died at 2:08 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23, 2020, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born in Cairo on Aug. 21, 1950, the son of Charles and Mary Alice Stoner Stringer. 

He married Marilyn Dry on April 8, 1979.

He farmed for many years with his dad and brother. He later worked as a corrections officer at the Vienna Correctional Center for 18 1/2 years, before retiring in 2001. 

He was a member of Cross Road United Methodist Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and a life member of the NRA. He loved to visit and talk with his friends.

Mr. Stringer is survived by his wife, Marilyn; daughters Amber (Clint) Wellin of Gordonville, Mo., and Amy Dunlap of Cape Girardeau; his brother, David (Laura) Stringer, and his sister, Charlene Stringer all of Ullin; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were at noon Friday, Nov. 27, at Crain Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Cape Girardeau, with Pastor Phil Wellin and Pastor Randy Huckleberry officiating. Interment followed in Thompson Cemetery in Gordonville. 

Memorials can be made to the American Heart Association. 

Crain Funeral Home in Ullin was in charge of arrangements.
