Shirley Jean Burns

Shirley Jean Burns, 92, of Dongola, went home to be with her precious Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 6:52 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, 2024, after a brief illness. 

She was born on April 22, 1932, in Cairo, the daughter of Radwell Arvin and Alice Irene Lentz Peeler. 

She married Buster Keaton Burns on June 15, 1951. He preceded her in death on March 6, 2006.

She is survived by her children, Randy Burns of Illinois, Kathy Mahan of Missouri, Michael Burns of New Mexico and Susan Oliver of Florida; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her husband; son Terry Burns; daughter JoyceLynn Burns-Yahn; great-granddaughter Breyana Kaitlynne Simmons; siblings and her parents.

She was of the Baptist faith. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was deeply loved by her family and will be tremendously missed.
