Shielda Wheaton

Shielda Wheaton, 71, died on Nov. 28, 2022, surrounded by family and dear friends. 

She was born on Feb. 20, 1951, in Anna, the fourth child of Olin Frank and Clara Edna Wright Wheaton.

She is survived by two daughters, Angela (Scott) Horn of Carterville and Michelle (Keith) Bono of Anna; eight grandchildren, Josh and Julia Peeler, Kyle and Kassie Bunch, Olivia Bono, Fallon (Nick) Stearns and Josie and Wyatt Horn; four great-grandchildren, Laken and Eila Peeler, Everhett Bunch and Lyla Stearns; one sister, Shirley Vines of Anna; and a sister-in-law, Peggy Smith of Cape Girardeau.

She also is survived by a vast number of family members and close friends whom she loved dearly. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; by  two brothers, Donald Smith and Ronald Smith; and by a  brother-in-law, Jim Vines.

She attended Southern Illinois University for higher education but due to an accident she never pursued a career in the workforce. Instead, she dedicated her life to God and sharing blessings with those in her community and online. She should always be remembered for her generosity and compassion. 

She was a member at Hope Church in Anna. Her church and community meant the world to her. 

Funeral services for Shielda Wheaton were at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro, with Darrell Coleson officiating. Interment followed in Jonesboro Cemetery. 

Memorials can be made to Hope Church that will be used to assist those in need and can be sent to Hope Church, 307 W. Vienna St., Anna, Ill. 62906.
