Sharon Hunter

Sharon Hunter, 79, of Dongola, died Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022, at her home. 

She was born on April 1, 1943, in Anna, the daughter of Lester “Buck” and Wilma Wright Aden. 

She married Robert Hunter on July 8, 1976, in Anna. He preceded her in death on Aug. 10, 2012.

She is survived by her daughter, Sonya (Billy) Colson of Vienna; five grandchildren, Courtney (Austin Dollins) Bigham, Zachary (Makenzie) Bigham, B.J. (Shelby) Colson, Zachary (Courtney) Colson and Rachael (Brandon) Melcher; nine great-grandchildren; her in-laws, Barry and Betty Hunter, Cecil and Donna Hunter and Lillian Hunter; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and son Tobin Hunter.

Mrs. Hunter was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Dongola. She was very active in her church and enjoyed Bible study. She belonged to the church’s quilting group. 

She loved spending time with her family and friends. She was competitive and enjoyed playing games with friends and family. One of her favorite things was beating her daughter and son-in-law at Phase 10.

Funeral services for Sharon Hunter were at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna, with Bill Littrell officiating. Interment was in St. John’s Cemetery west of Dongola. 

Memorials can be made to the Dongola Lutheran Church or to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
