Sarah "Sally" Standard

Sarah “Sally” Standard, 99, of Monmouth, and formerly of Union County,  died at 12:49 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, 2019, at Seminary Manor in Galesburg. 

She was born on April 8, 1920, in Warren, Tenn., the daughter of C.M. and Lizzie May Oaks Jones. 

She was raised in Union County in Southern Illinois and attended local schools through high school. 

She married Guy W. Standard on Feb. 18, 1939, in Dongola. He preceded her in death on Sept. 18, 2001. 

Mrs. Standard was a secretary for many years in Lemont, where she was employed by Ceco Steel. They then moved to Reidland, Ky., where she was a member of Reidland Methodist Church.  

Survivors include one son, Jim Standard and Rae Ann of Monmouth; two grandsons, Jeff Standard of Toledo, Ill., and Guy Standard and Paula of Gilbert, Ariz.; two granddaughters Sarah Gagliano and Ken of Plano, Texas, and Kim Schure and Donald of Plainfield; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, James T. Jones of Paducah.

She was preceded in death by her parents;her husband; one son, Max Standard; her grandson, James A. Standard; and her brother, C.M. Jones. 

A graveside funeral service was held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at the Anna Cemetery.

Crain Funeral Home of Anna-Jonesboro was in charge of arrangements.
