Ruth G. Wagner

Ruth G. Wagner, 93, of Carbondale, and formerly of Anna, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2023, at her residence.

She was born on Jan. 16, 1930, in Wolf Lake, the daughter of Earnest Harry and Eva Pearl Cox Smith.

She was married to Walter Wagner, who preceded her in death.

She worked for more than 50 years at Union County Hospital in Anna, cleaned houses and worked part-time at Florsheim Shoe Company. Needless to say, she was a hard worker.

In her spare time, she loved doing yard work and tending to her flowers. She had a passion for birds and enjoyed rides in the country.

But mostly, she was all about her family, whom she loved dearly. She was of Christian faith and also loved the Lord.

She is survived by her sons, Randy Smith (Pam) and Jeff Mull; granddaughters Ronni (Josh) Welcher, Deidre Hunt (Rennie), Kristina Smith (Tim), Cheryl Smith and Amy Capista (Len); grandson Ryan Wagner; 12 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and special caregiver Gage Khurana.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sons, Ralph and Cliff Mull; and a daughter, Janine Mull.

A memorial gathering will be held from 10 a.m. until noon Thursday, Dec. 21, at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro.

Funeral services will be at noon Thursday, Dec. 21, at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro, with Matt Crain officiating.
