Ruth Aldridge

Ruth Aldridge, 95, of Johnston City, and formerly of Cobden, died at 9:07 a.m. Monday, June 27, 2016, at her home, surrounded by her family.

She was born on Nov. 10, 1920, in Hurst, the daughter of Earl D. and Elizabeth Crews Furlow.

She married Herman Lee Aldridge on May 9, 1938, in Jonesboro. He preceded her in death on Nov. 2, 1978.

She is survived by her four daughters, Marie Qualls, Loretta Aldridge, Mary Aldridge and Betty Marlow, all of Johnston City; six grandchildren, Janet Jensen, Ronald Dangbar, Barb Helton, Darrel Clutts, Johnny Carner and Denise Hutchinson; 22 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Raymond Furlow of Cobden; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herman Lee Aldridge; one son, Carl Aldridge; one daughter, Geraldine Aldridge; two brothers and three sisters.

She was a faithful Christian and member of the Harmony Freewill Baptist Church in West Frankfort. She was most proud to be a loving mom and grandmother to her family. She enjoyed sewing, embroidering and gardening.

Funeral services for Mrs. Aldridge were at 11:30 a.m. Friday, July 1, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden, with Pastor Curtis Smith officiating. Interment was in the Cobden Cemetery.
