Roy Glenn Lamer

Roy Glenn Lamer, 78, of Cobden, died at 7 a.m. Monday, Sept. 12, 2016, at Union County Hospital in Anna.

He was born on March 9, 1938, in Cobden, the son of Charles Van and Pauline Elizabeth Wallace Lamer.

He married Jean Ellen Flamm on Oct. 5, 1963, in Cobden. She preceded him in death on Oct. 14, 1998.

He is survived by his daughter, Laura (Patrick) Cates of Cobden; a cousin, Lou Ann Hartline of Cobden; brothers-in-law Bill (Nancy) Flamm and Leonard (Judy) Flamm, all of Cobden; special friend, Luella Watkins of Benton and her children and grandchildren, whom he loved as family; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jean Ellen Lamer; and a brother, Charles Wallace Lamer.

He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Lick Creek. He owned and operated Lamer Farms in Cobden until 1978, and then worked in the construction industry and for Sensmeier Construction until his retirement.

He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt, fish and duck hunt. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited and was a Boy Scout leader in Cobden for many years.

Memorial services for Mr. Lamer will be at noon Saturday, Sept. 17, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden, with the Rev. Doug Bridgeman officiating. Friends can call after 9 a.m. and until the service hour at noon on Saturday, Sept. 17, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden.
