Ronald R. Smith
Ronald R. Smith, of Cape Girardeau, and formerly of Anna, died on Sunday, Dec. 24, 2017, at age 74.
He was born on Sept. 25, 1943, in Mill Creek, the son of Harold and Edna Wright Smith.
He married Peggy Poole on May 26, 1961, in Mill Creek.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Peggy Smith of Cape Girardeau; a son, Donald Smith of Whitewater, Mo.; daughters Sheila “Sis” (David) McKee of Dongola, Pam (Rick) Bueter of Glennon, Mo., Tamra (Ken) Riley of Huntsville, Ala., and Jenna (Shell) Duskey of Dongola; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley (Jim) Vines and Shielda Wheaton, all of Anna; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Frank Wheaton; and a twin brother, Donald “Tex” Smith.
He worked for Procter & Gamble for many years before retiring. He was known as “The Man with a Plan.”
Funeral services for Mr. Smith were at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 29, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro, with the Rev. Charles Ferris and Richard Webb officiating. Interment was in St. John’s Cemetery near Dongola.
