Robert Eugene Claxton

Robert Claxton of Lake St. Louis, Mo., died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2022, at the age of 91 years.

He is survived by three children, Allen Claxton and wife, Sandra, David Claxton and wife, Janet, and Catharine Toppins and husband, Michael; six grandchildren, Michael Claxton, Christopher Toppins, Steven Claxton, George Claxton, Kristyn Toppins and Jeffrey Claxton; three great-grandchildren, Ian Claxton, Elsie Claxton and Aiden Claxton; one brother, Joseph Claxton; two nephews, Ralph Rodibaugh and wife, Joy, and Scott Claxton; other nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Robert Eugene Claxton was born on Oct. 1, 1930, in Cobden, the son of Ira Claxton and wife, Vay Fulcher Claxton. 

Mr. Claxton served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. 

He married Earlene Pinkard on Dec. 6, 1958, and three children were born to this marriage. 

Mr. Claxton retired from Westinghouse Electric Corporation after working 22 years as a switchboard wireman. 

He enjoyed gardening, was an avid reader and loved to walk and watch western movies and TV shows.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Earlene, on Nov. 1, 2016; and by one brother, Alfred Claxton.

Mr. Claxton will be forever remembered for his faith and devotion to his family and love of country. 

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Memorials can be made to the Gary Sinise Foundation.

Pitman Funeral Home in Wentzville, Mo., is in charge of arrangements.
