Richard Harrington
It is with great sadness that the family of Richard (Rick) Harrington of Cape Girardeau announces his passing after a long illness on Monday, Aug. 24, 2020, at the age of 80 years at his home.
Mr. Harrington was born in St. Louis, the son of Margaret Fitzgerald, on Dec. 13, 1939.
He graduated from Cairo High School in 1958. He was a grant writer for the Alexander County Housing Authority before his retirement.
He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Richard Jr. (Tracy) Harrington and Teresa (Nick) Livesay. He will also be fondly remembered by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; by his sisters, Margaret Fitzgerald and Pauline Whiteside; and a brother, Robert (Julie) Fitzgerald.
Mr. Harrington was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Sue, on Nov. 22, 2018; by his parents, Robert and Margaret Fitzgerald; by a young daughter, Amy Suzanne in 1962; and by an infant sister, Mary Elizabeth.
Cremation will be accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Memorials can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
