Ray Dean Wilson

Ray Dean Wilson, 63, of Jonesboro, died Sunday, Oct. 25, 2020, at his home. 

He was born on May 28, 1957, in Alton, the son of James “Bill” and Erma Sims Wilson.

Mr. Wilson is survived by his mother, Erma (Sims) Shelton; a son, Michael Wilson; grandsons Dylan and Mathew; stepsisters Lori (Greg) Klein of Jonesboro and Judy (Charley) Martin of Wickliffe, Ky.; a nephew, Heath Tellor; aunts Eleta Poole of Dongola, Betty (Neal) McCormick of Olive Branch, Leda Krone Meyer of Jackson, Ky., Neta (Bruce) Whitley of Elgin, Pamela (Richard) Lose of Elgin and Carol (Ray) Williams of Aurora. 

He was preceded in death by his father, James “Bill” Wilson; his stepfather, Clinton Shelton; and a sister, Wendy Tellor.

He went to grade school in Wood River and attended high school in Anna. He started playing baseball in Wood River when he was 6 years old, and he played football at Anna-Jonesboro Community High School. He was a Dallas Cowboys fan after moving to Denton, Texas, and living there for 30 years. He liked playing pool and going fishing. 

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro, with Jay Franklin officiating. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery near Dongola.
