R. Michael Rose

R. Michael Rose

R. Michael Rose, baptized into the hope of Christ’s resurrection, died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2020, from complications of COVID-19.

He was the beloved father and father-in-law of Matthew (Amy) Rose, Amanda Rose and Jordan (Katlin) Rose; loving grandfather of Madison, Brendan and Katherine; dear brother of William Rose of Charlotte, N.C., and John Rose of Orland Park; dear grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend.

Robert Michael “Mike” Rose was proudly born and raised in Cairo, Illinois. As he would often say, he was “the son of a truck driver,” having learned a strong and enthusiastic work ethic from a very young age.

This led him to earn his master’s degree from Eastern Illinois University in 1977.

Having worked as a financial planner for the last 40-plus years, anyone who knew him witnessed his unbridled passion for what he did and the unique relationship with his clients, which he would do anything for.

Although he enjoyed his job, there was no title he loved or cherished more than being a Father. He was the kind of Dad that wanted to know every detail of his children’s lives – not to be nosy – but so that he could proudly boast about it to anyone that would lend an ear.

A constant character, he always had a smile on his face and his laughter could be heard from the next room, sometimes even from his own jokes.

He looked forward to going out to eat and enjoyed the company it brought. He will forever be reminisced as a happy, loving and kind Father, amongst so many other things.

He enjoyed sharing his wisdom and know that he would be telling us all to “Hang in there. No matter how hard the day or task is, keep going.”

A Celebration of Life Service will be scheduled at a later date.

Ortmann Stipanovich Funeral Home in Creve Coeur/St. Louis, Mo., (www.osfuneralhomes.com) is in charge of arrangements.
