Pete Franco

Pete Franco, 58, of Ullin, died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2019, at 7:05 a.m. at his home, surrounded by his family.        

He was born on July 27, 1961, in Cairo, the son of Joan Elaine Taylor Martin.  

Pete and Glenda Kesler were married on March 30, 1985.  

Mr. Franco worked for the Department of Corrections as a food supervisor at Shawnee Correctional Center and then for the Tamms Supermax until his retirement. He also worked for Little Egypt Farms.  

He was an avid outdoorsman who had a passion for fishing and hunting. He loved coaching as well, especially girls’ basketball and softball.  

He was a friend who was always ready to lend a hand and volunteered for many events in Ullin.  

He was a member of the Back Water Fishing Club, a board member at Century School District and of the Village of Ullin.

He is survived by his wife, Glenda; a daughter, Lauren Franco (boyfriend Evan Hughey) of Ullin; a sister, Pam Franco (Joseph Mancinelli) of Weston, Conn.; his mother, Joan Martin of Cape Girardeau; an aunt, Evelyn Taylor of Cape Girardeau; a nephew, Cole Mancinelli of Weston, Conn.; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services for Pete Franco were at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 2, at the First Baptist Church in Ullin, with the Rev. Clint Nale, the Rev. Brent Miller and Fr. Allan Saunders officiating. Interment was in the Anna City Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to the building fund at the First Baptist Church in Ullin. 

Crain Funeral Home in Ullin was in charge of arrangements.
