Peggy Jean Mallams
Peggy Jean Mallams, 95, of Anna, died at 4:55 a.m. Friday, Sept. 8, 2017, at the Illinois Veterans Home in Anna.
She was born on Aug. 27, 1922, in Creal Springs, the daughter of Clarence and Mae Gillespie.
She married R.C. Mallams on April 3, 1943. He preceded her in death on Oct. 13, 2011.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Anna. She retired as a bank teller from Anna State Bank after 13 years of service.
Survivors include her daughter, Karen “K.K.” (Dennis) Edissi of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Belcher of Anna; a niece, Pam (Tom) Fisher; nephews Richard (Evelyn) Gillespie, Ray (Sharon) Gillespie and Gary Belcher; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, R.C. Mallams; a daughter, Nancy Jean Mallams; a sister, Betty Bauer; and a brother, Clarence Gillespie.
Funeral services were Monday, Sept. 11, at 2 p.m. at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro, with the Rev. Les Sinks officiating. Interment followed in the Anna City Cemetery.
