Pauline Virginia Haines Duke

Pauline Virginia Haines Duke, 93, of Cypress, and formerly of Perks, died at 11:02 p.m. on March 15, 2017, at Union County Hospital in Anna.

She was born on July 14, 1923, in Tennessee, the daughter of John Henry and Lamon Swindle Haines.

She married Cletus Duke on Oct. 10, 1947. He preceded her in death on Sept. 17, 2008.

She had been a member of Maple Grove Baptist Church in Perks since March 24, 1969. In earlier years she worked at Brown Shoe Company in Charleston, Mo., and at Head Start in Perks as a cook.

She is survived by sons Randell (Darlene) Duke of Cypress and Ronnie (Cassandra) Duke of Karnak; daughters Sandra (Lynn) Miller of Dongola, Linda (George) Sickling of Dongola and Jeanie Duke of Perks; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren, with four on the way; sister Janet (David) Croney of Antioch, Tenn.; brothers Bill (Jerry) Haines of Caledonia, Mich., James (Sonja) Haines of East Prairie, Mo., Donil Haines of Nashville, Tenn., and Dennis (Fran) Haines of Corning, Ark.; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cletus Duke; a son, Cletus Wayne Duke; an infant brother, Cletus Haines; sisters Calline Duke and Doris Hansen; and brothers Charles and Jackson Haines.

Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 18, at Crain Funeral Home in Dongola, with the Rev. Clint Nale officiating. Interment was in the Cypress Masonic Cemetery.
