Paul Edward Simpkins

Paul Edward Simpkins, 77, of Anna, died at 12:28 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2016, at home.

He was born on Dec. 25, 1938, in Chicago, the son of William Issac and Lelia Lewis Simpkins.

He married Margarett “Monnie” Snell on Sept. 1, 1962, in Ware.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Monnie Simpkins of Anna; a son, Ken (Lisa) Simpkins of Lick Creek; a daughter, Paula (Preston) Hall of Cobden; one grandson, Colin Hall; three nieces, Kathy Knox, Fawn Harris and Lynn Graves; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mary Helen Deering and Gladys Gowin; and two brothers, Norman C. Simpkins and William Thomas Simpkins.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1957 to 1963. He was a member of the Anna Heights Baptist Church. He was retired from the Olin Brass Mill, where he worked for over 42 years as a quality control inspector. He enjoyed fishing and working outdoors in his yard. During his later years, he and Monnie enjoyed traveling and taking cruises.

Funeral services for Mr. Simpkins were at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, at Anna Heights Baptist Church, with Pastor Larry Rhodes and Pastor Darryl Williams officiating.

Interment was in the Mound City National Cemetery. Military rites were conducted by area veterans and the Navy funeral honor detail.
