Paul Daroll Carter

Paul Daroll Carter of North Texas, loving husband and father of two children, died Friday, Oct. 4, 2019, at the age of 59.

He was born on March 16, 1960, in Cape Girardeau, the son of Johnnie Carter and Judith Kimbel. 

On May 22, 1978, he married Margie Jane Long. She preceded him in death on Sept. 10, 1998. 

Mr. Carter is survived by their two children and their spouses, daughter Bobbi and her husband Miles Martin of Van Alstyne, Texas, and son Paul (Toodie) and his wife Sandra Norton Carter of Blanchard, Okla.; his mother and stepfather Judy and Carl Ehlers of Cape Girardeau; his brother, Larry Don Niswonger of Cape Girardeau; his sister, Cindy (Bruce) Hanebrink of Cape Girardeau; his aunt, Linda Reid of Louisville, Ky,; his grandchildren, Ava Pearl Martin, Carter Jameson Martin and Maggie Jo Carter; and a multitude of cousins, nieces, and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Johnnie; his wife, Margie Long Carter; grandmother Lucille Carter; and grandfather Paul Daniel Carter.

Mr. Carter spent some years working in the oil field for Nub’s Well Service and Quinton Little before he answered the calling to become a minister. He was a preacher at the Freewill Baptist Church in Healdton, Okla., for several years. 

He received his associates of applied science degree in nursing at Murray State College in Tishomingo, Okla., in 2003. He began his career in nursing in Ardmore, Okla. He continued his career for 15 years with his beloved work family at McKinney Medical Center. 

He had a passion for fishing at both Lake Texoma and deep-sea fishing in Cabo. In fact, he named his best buddy, Cabo, his German shepherd, after it. 

He was also a talented musician, a collector of guitars, as well as musical memorabilia. He was known for his quick wit, humble heart and his kind and compassionate spirit.

Graveside services were at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson, Mo., with Kevin Rhodes officiating. Interment followed.
