Patrick O. Webster

Patrick O. Webster, 77, of Cairo, died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2020, at Life Care Center in Cape Girardeau.

Mr. Webster was born on June 25, 1943, in Cairo, the son of Leslie and Marie Webster. 

He married  Lynn Currier on Jan. 1, 2000.

Mr. Webster was the long-time owner/operator of Webster Plumbing and Heating in Cairo. He was one of the last persons to be familiar with boiler work, responding day and night. 

He was a long-time member of the Cairo Auxiliary Fire Department. He was a veteran in the U.S. Army, where he served in the medical transportation unit. 

He later became a registered nurse, working at St. Mary’s Hospital and Barnes Hospital. He delivered many babies in Cairo. 

Mr. Webster was a licensed funeral embalmer and had a long history of public service. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife, Lynn; three sisters, Leslie Webster, Karen Webster and Emily (David) Helman; two stepsons, Brad Simmons and Eric VanCleave; two grandchildren, Sunnie Stevers and Zachary Simmons; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother, Bruce Webster.

Graveside services for Patrick O. Webster were at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 11, at the National Cemetery in Mound City, with the Rev. Buddy Walls officiating. Interment followed.

Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the American Heart Association.

Crain Funeral Home in Cairo was in charge of arrangements.
