Maxine Foster

Maxine Foster, 82, of Anna, died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2018, at her home. 

She was born on April 13, 1936, in Richland, Texas, the daughter of Joshua George and Velma Irene Barnhart Burleson. 

She married James D. Foster on Oct. 7, 1955, in Waco, Texas. He preceded her in death on May 20, 2018.

She is survived by her son, Terry (Denise) Foster of Jonesboro; a daughter, Debbie (Mike) McLane of Jonesboro; grandchildren Gretchin and J.D. Emrick, William, Jefferey and Freda Foster and Christopher and Michaella McLane; great-grandchildren Matthew McLane, Connor McLane, Kylee Campbell and Claira McLane; special caregivers Sherry Codner and Monica McIntosh; other relatives and many friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Foster; a brother, J.D. Burleson; and a sister, Jane Yankee. 

She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to Carroll P. Foster Post No. 3455 of the VFW in Anna.  

She worked at the Choate Mental Health and Developmental Center in Anna as a payroll supervisor and as a matron at the Union County Sheriff’s Office. She won multiple trophies and awards in bowling and softball.  

Funeral services for Maxine Foster were at noon Monday, Aug. 13, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna, with the Rev. Randy Morgan officiating. Interment was in the Anna City Cemetery. 

Memorials can be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or to the VFW’s Carroll P. Foster Post No. 3455.
