Maurice Ginsburg

Maurice Ginsburg, 80, of Anna, and formerly of Makanda, died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017, at the Illinois Veterans Home in Anna.

He was born on March 1, 1937, in Hayti, Mo., the son of Harry and Lucille Deming Ginsburg.

He is survived by his two sons, Dr. Gregg Ginsburg of Festus, Mo., and Nicholas Ginsburg of Carbondale; four grandchildren, Hannah Kennedy and Holden, Hallie and Hayden Ginsburg; two brothers, Charles Ginsburg of Bella Vista, Ark., and Bernard Ginsburg of Greenville, Ky.; many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

He served in the U. S. Army from 1960 to 1962. He was retired from Choate Mental Health and Developmental Center in Anna after working many years as a social worker. He loved to play golf and pool.

Funeral services for Mr. Ginsburg were at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden, with the Rev. Paul Tirey officiating. Interment was in the Cobden Cemetery.

Graveside military rites were conducted by Carroll P. Foster Post No. 3455 of the VFW in Anna and the Illinois Army National Guard military honor team of Marion.

Memorials can be made to the Illinois Veterans Home activity fund.
