Mary Ellen Conroy

Mary Ellen Conroy, 80, formerly of Mokena, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2022, at Village of Sugar Land in Sugar Land, Texas. 

She was born on May 25, 1941, in Illinois, the daughter of Frank and Marion Gura Black.

She married Richard L. Conroy. He preceded her in death on June 5, 2003. 

She loved spending time with her family, especially her loving grandchildren. 

Survivors include her children, Jenny (Michael) Conroy-Adams, Rick (Nicole) Conroy and Joanna Conroy-Marsh; grandchildren Parker Adams, Griffin Conroy, Addi Conroy, Lauren Marsh, Taylor Marsh and Sydney Marsh; a brother-in-law, Bob Conroy; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother, Thomas Black.  

A graveside service will be held at Green Lawn Memorial Gardens in Villa Ridge on Saturday, Jan. 29, at 11 a.m., with Father Chris Mujule officiating.

Crain Funeral Home in Cairo is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial can be made to the Cairo Historical Library, P.O. Box 151, Cairo, Ill. 62914, in recognition of her 32 years of service at the Mokena elementary school.
