Marlene Phalin

Marlene Phalin, 78, of Wetaug, died at 10:23 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017, at Integrity Healthcare of Anna.

She was born on April 28, 1938, in Ullin, the daughter of Richard and Juanita Echols Holderfield.

She married William Ray Phalin on Nov. 6, 1954. They enjoyed 62 years together.

She had a loving heart and her home was always open to her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Dongola United Pentecostal Church.

She is survived by her husband, William Ray Phalin of Wetaug; her children, Donna (Eddie) Goins of Dongola, David (Rosa) Phalin of El Paso, Texas, Gary (Ellen) Phalin of Goreville, Terry (Gina) Phalin of Goreville, Ruth Ward of Wetaug, Josh (Tabby) Phalin of Standardsville, Va., Andy Phalin of Anna and Micah (Jeff) Thomas of West Frankfort; 14 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Greg (Penny) Holderfield of Johnston City; sisters Anita Yates of Spring, Texas, Nancy Johnson of Paducah and Rae (Larry) Lingle of Dongola; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Karen; a brother, Harold; and two brothers in infancy.

Funeral services were at 1 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 9, at the Dongola United Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Mike Gibson officiating. Interment was in the New Hope Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to the Dongola United Pentecostal Church.

Crain Funeral Home in Dongola was in charge of arrangements.
