Marcella Marie Buttry

Marcella Marie Buttry, 77, of Sikeston, Mo., went home to her Lord and Savior Thursday, Aug. 19, 2021, as a result of an automobile accident. 

She was born on Jan. 31, 1944, in Cardwell, Mo., the daughter of George and Pearl Treece. 

She married Tonie V. Smith. He preceded her in death on July 14, 1990. She later married Charles Buttry in 1996. 

She is survived by her husband, Charles Buttry of Sikeston, Mo.; children Cathy Marie (Ron) Taylor of Dongola, Sheila (Grady) Sappington of Kevil, Ky., Mike (Michelle) Smith of Morley, Mo., David (Patricia) Smith of Scott City, Mo., and April (Jerry) Farris of Jonesboro; 19 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; stepchildren Marie Harwood, Robert (Debbie) Buttry, Loretta Buttry and Tim Buttry, all of Sikeston, Mo., and Kevin (Sharon) Smith of Greenville, Ind.; seven step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; sisters Ruth Rambeau of Anna and Peggy Owens of Florida; a brother, Leonard Sorrels of Florida; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. 

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Tonie V. Smith; a brother, Eugene Sorrels; and sister, Georgia Lee Chapman. 

Marcella loved going to church, praising God, singing songs, and being with her family. She enjoyed capturing family moments in photos. She loved helping others and was a prayer warrior for everyone she knew. Her loving soul made an impact that will last forever and she will forever be celebrated and cherished.

Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro, with Mike Smith officiating. Interment was in the Alto Pass Cemetery.
