Luella Marceline Sitter Hammack

Luella Marceline Sitter Hammack, 91, of Anna, and formerly of Elgin, died Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at 9:14 a.m. at her residence. 

She was born on June 21, 1931, in Dongola, the daughter of Owen Marion and Cora Gladys Beggs Sitter.

She married Jess V. Hammack on Jan. 24, 1959. He preceded her in death on Nov. 16, 2001.

Prior to retirement, she worked as a laundry supervisor at Elgin Mental Health, where she worked for 37 years. She loved sitting on her front porch. She dearly loved her pets. Most of all, she loved taking care of her grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter, Cherry Hammack; granddaughters Lisa M. (Jason) Shipley and Alexis Hammack; great-granddaughter Makayla Shipley; great-grandson James Shipley; adopted daughter, Pam (Ron) Hinkle; sister Wanita Derrossett; nieces Debbie (Steve) Christianson and Sherry Hammack (Dan Moore); and many adopted grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who loved her and called her Granny and Aunt.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Malear; and grandchildren Nicole Hammack, Preston Hammack, Ashley Hammack and Sunset Hammack.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 7, at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro, with Pastor Robert Loveless officiating.

Interment followed the funeral services at Anna City Cemetery.
