Leonard Landis

Leonard Landis, 89, of Anna, died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2023, at Integrity Health Care of Anna. 

He was born on Oct. 9, 1934, in Anna, the son of James Monroe and Maggie Mae Phillips Landis. 

He married Doris King on Sept. 11, 1954, in Corinth, Miss.

Mr. Landis is survived by his wife, Doris Landis of Anna; children Jeff (Jeannie) Landis, Greg (Sandy) Landis and Kenny (Darlene) Landis, all of Anna; grandchildren Amanda (Evan) Bridgford, Adam (Leah) Landis, Chris Landis, Evan (Kate) Landis and Ethan Landis; great-grandchildren Hudson, Bentley and Adalyn Landis; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Jack Landis, Edna Vines, Carl Landis, Anna Mae Strickland, Floyd Landis, Judy Yancy, Onida Davis and Leota Manus.

Mr. Landis worked with the Operating Engineers out of Local No. 150 and No. 318 until his retirement. He was always out in the shop, usually building something from whatever he could find. 

He loved riding horses and often trained them. He became known as the “horse whisperer” to many of his close friends. He served in the U.S. Army.

Funeral services for Leonard Landis will be at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna, with Pastor Doug Bridgeman officiating. Family and friends can call from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.

Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
