Lavonne Honey Bridges

Lavonne Honey Bridges, 87, of Granite City, and formerly of Tamms, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2022, at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City.

She was born on July 11, 1934, in Alexander County, the daughter of Omer and Edna Harvell Honey.

 She attended the Tamms United Methodist Church. She formerly attended the Sandy Creek Baptist Church. 

She was a former member of the Tamms Chamber of Commerce. She helped with the Happy Helpers Pantry in Tamms.

She was a secretary for the Alexander County circuit clerk and she worked at the former Tamms Drug Store.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, James Joseph Essex in 1977; her second husband, Raymond Cain; her third husband, Charles Bridges; and her twin brother, LaDonne Honey.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Rebecca Essex; stepsons and daughters-in-law Kenny and Becky Bridges and Kenny and Mandy Cain; grandchildren Amy McDermid, Gina Turner and Pamela Beasley; step-grandchildren Erin Railsback and Casey Cain; great-grandchildren Issac, Allison, Adaline and Kamden Turner, Vallon and Dominic Beasley, Karmalynn Reed; step-great-grandchildren Silas Railsback, Darby, Charlotte and Fred Cain; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, at Jones Funeral Home in Tamms. Pastor Brent Gordon officiated. Interment followed in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens in Villa Ridge.
