Karen Hartsock

Karen Hartsock, 66, of Cobden, died at 2:50 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017, at her home.

She was born on Jan. 31, 1951, in Eugene, Ore., the daughter of Clifford Carmen and Peggy Hiestand Porter.

She married Danny Hartsock on Oct. 24, 1969, in Cobden.

She is survived by her husband, Danny Hartsock of Cobden; a daughter, Yvonne (Danny) Windings of Cobden; a son, Eugene (Emily) Hartsock of Anna; 12 grandchildren, Kaylee, Bradley, Sydney, Lindsey Windings, Allison (Dylan) McCann, Ashley Hartsock, Sophie Trammel, Jon, Sam, Gabbi, Francesca and Lydia Derossett; three great-grandchildren and one on the way; sisters Carmen (Howard) Couch of La Pine, Ore., Christine Broadway of Paducah and Sheila Barce of Portland, Ore.; one brother, Robert Porter of Portland, Ore.; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandchild, Alexis Hartsock; and a brother-in-law, George Broadway.

She was a member of the Immanuel Praise & Worship Center of Cobden. After she graduated from nursing school as an LPN, she worked at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale and later she went on to work with SIU Family Practice before retiring.

She loved going camping with her family and working in her flower garden. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan, but most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hartsock were at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Immanuel Praise and Worship Center in Cobden, with George Miller officiating. Interment was in the Cobden Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the church.
